I need somewhere to rant...now

So I just finished my first final, which I feel I did darn well on, but now I must start on a 20 page paper for college writing that is due in 2 days! What a way to celebrate completing my first college final ever right? But beside the point, let's talk about yesterday when I came back from Daly City and walked into the dorm room...

It was dark, quiet... quite an unusual sight in my room since there's almost always someone sleeping, studying, eating, listening to music, doing regular dorm room things right? But it was 8 pm on a Friday night; I realized there was hip-hop class which was probably where Roommate #1 would be and Roommate #2 would probably be in a friend's room at that moment. So, I flipped on the light switch.

Waiting 2 seconds for the very dim light in our room above the door to illuminate about two feet in front of me, I rushed over to turn on my desk lamp (the brightest light in our room) and plug my laptop in so I could hurry and study for my final which was twelve hours from now. Twelve hours may sound like a lot, but for a procrastinator and a sleepy-head, that equivocates to about two to three hours of studying to the devout student. Beside the point, while I was dashing to my lamp I felt my shoe accidentally kick something small and plasticky... the split second after I tripped over something that felt like the trash can. After recovering from the small fall I turned around to see a plastic bottle was what I kicked, and I did trip over our trash can that I emptied two days ago, except now it was OVERFLOWING with trash! Fortunately only a few small things happened to fall out of the amazingly balanced mountain of trash... unfortunately those small things were all used wads of tissue that I ended up picking up.

A few feet away from the trash can was our second garbage can that I converted into a recycle bin for our room because I love our world, even if it does support the lives of people living like pigs (no offense to the animal, the pig). Not to my surprise, that too was reaping a heap of empty water bottles, juice cartons, and metal coffee cans (one of my roommates is a caffeine addict). Balanced atop that pile was a piece of cardboard that I use to ingeniously cover the recycle bin so flies won't get attracted to whatever was in there (we used to have a bad fruitfly problem but once I covered the can up and waited a few days, they left). On top of that cardboard were five to-go boxes from the dining common (all filled with rotting leftovers that smelled like death) and three to-go cups... luckily those were empty.

Still on the floor from the fall, I slowly absorbed the wonderful vision of trash in front of my eyes and the wafting smell of rancid food beneath my nose. AAAAAAARRRRGGGGHHH!!! I hoped nobody heard that yell, because recently our Resident Advisor enforced a "quiet policy" for the two weeks of finals and the last thing I wanted was for the RA to come knocking on my room door and dying from the trash odor before she could reprimand me for interrupting others' need for silence. She really is the best RA ever and I want her to be able to survive to take her finals, too.

"I can't believe they did this again," I said under my breath. I could feel my body heating up, I don't know if it was out of anger and frustration or if it was because they left the heat on again and our room heats up really fast. Regardless, I picked myself up from the floor and turned on the only beacon of hope in our room, my lamp. It's the only hope in our room because it illuminates my desk, the only one in our room where you can still see the desk surface. It's like where my lamp shines there is a glimmering spark of neatness in the room that I can be proud of. Yes, I am exaggerating... but not by that much. I would take pictures of my roommates' desks but that would be an invasion of privacy, a waste of memory card space, and most importantly, an unfortunate reminder of who I must clean after everyday.

So I plugged in my laptop's adaptor, but not the ethernet cable because I did not want any internet-related distractions hindering my studying. Sprawled on the floor because I did not feel like working on my desk, I cracked open my Anthropology 2ac book and started highlighting and typing like mad... for about two minutes. I couldn't concentrate; that evil trash heap was staring straight back at me, taunting me with its putrid stench and its contents spilling over the edges of the can. I got up, stomped the pile down into the can to compress the trash together, and with a lot of effort, was able to tie the handles of the trash bag together. I placed it on the dorm room floor and walked over to the recycle bin. First I balanced the to-go boxes on top of each other and then managed to get the cups in my hands. I opened the room door and ventured out to go to the compost bin where those darn to-go boxes belong. It's not the walk down the hallway, the four steps I must walk up, the deranged faces that watch me do this balancing act, or the freezing cold I must face that bug me when I must take out my roommates' compost; it's the smell of the rotten food in the boxes and the soggy feeling the boxes get from absorbing the food's juices for so long. If only I could share this exhilarating experience with my roommates.

After dumping out just the to-go boxes, I headed back to the room, dreading the load of recycling I would have to take outside to the same location where I got rid of the decayed food. I picked up the whole bin from the bottom and carried it out. Same adventure, but with less of the smell. However, since the bin was much more full than usual, things kept falling out and I would have to stop my trek, put down the bin, pick up the dropped cans, and replace them back inside. I don't know whether I was more pleased to know that if there was more recycling that meant that I finally taught my Chinese roommate how to recycle or whether I was more upset that this was such a tedious job that no one else was willing to do, no matter how much I hinted. Perhaps I need to be more blunt... Anyways, I did manage to reach the larger recycling bin eventually and empty ours out, so I dragged the bin back to our room.

Putting the bin back into its place, one of my roommates walks back in, the tall White one that lived in Canada all her life, except her senior year of high school where she moved to Saratoga. She said "Oh, hey, you're back!" I gave her a smile. The tied-up trash bag was still on the floor; I gave it a slight nudge with my foot... a slight indication that there was trash on the floor, offer to throw it out dammit. She just walked over to her laptop and went onto Facebook.

I just left the trash bag there, maybe someone will pick it up and bring it to the dumpster tomorrow, or the day after, or maybe a week later when there will be five tied bags lined in our room. So far it has been a day, and that trash bag is still on the floor, bugging the hell out of me. Am I obsessive compulsive? I don't think so... maybe just comparable to them I am because I'm the only one that gets irked when our room smells like week-old korean barbecue beef and rice from the DC.

You can probably tell this is not the first time that I have tried this tactic of leaving the trash there though. I've never let it go too far; I think the longest I have waited to see if they would take out the trash was about a week and a half... three trash bags were on the floor, along with too many to-go boxes to count, and a bin & bag full of recycling. They did not take out any of it if you wanted to know the end result of my week-long rebellion.

Oh did I mention that I'm the only one that vacuums our room too? I'm pretty sure I did. One day my roommate will notice I accidentally vacuumed up her spare hair ties and a pencil by accident but I guess that's what happens when you don't do a job yourself; it's never done right. But that's a story for another day.

Do they think that there's a trash fairy that comes by while they're sleeping or out of the room? It picks up their trash for them and leaves behind an empty trash bag just because it is soo glad to get more trash from them. Well, I suppose it's possible, I mean there is a tooth fairy that loves to collect adolescents' teeth. Have you heard of her? Yeah, she'll pay you for your teeth if you put them under your pillow at night. I hear she pays twice the price if you give her one that has a cavity in it. The only catch is that you have to tell your parents to notify her because she's no mind reader, just a crazed fairy that loves teeth... maybe she doesn't have any of her own.

Anyways, the moral of this story is that if you aren't already being taken advantage of by your roommates to take out THEIR trash, don't let it start. Set up some schedule and share the fun... or if you're the one making your roommate take out the trash, shame on you! I hope you rot like the food that you leave for your roommate to throw away! Just kidding... just offer to take out the trash sometime... you never know if your roommate is saying the same thing about you right now.

MY BAD!

LOL! oh no no! i didnt answer questions, I meant to say, YAY! there WILL BE a new set of questions! xD ahahahhaa

Finals ARE indeed coming up.. but i have done nothing. i feel so bad. why am i even writing on here? eep!
ahahaa; though i should be studying for my chemistry finals, i have yet to do so. I have been on facebook and reading a fanfic... sadly, that fanfic had a horrible ending... a biiig contrast compared to how the story started out.

Watch, next thing you know, i'm going to be watching a movie... and then... i'll fail my finals. and regret & then cry and omggg. >< okay; i'll study after this blog :D

I realized that i didnt talk about anything related to college last time.. except how frustrated i was with myself in college reading articles that made me steam up. Ahahaa~ ^-^

I actually dont know where to start. Lets start with what's on the top of my mind.... FINALS! So... i have 4 finals. 3 on tuesday and 1 on friday. damn that final. why friday? i could have gone home days earlier if it were earlier. but i guess it's good because i really have a lot to study for for the friday finals.

Right now, i'm at CLICS. It's the library at Revelle College. It has been opening for 24 hours for the past week and going to remain opened for people to study in during finals week. Boy, i would have never thought so many people'd be here 24 hours. There are so many throughout the day... that it took me a long time to find a seat at a table to work at. Heck, I still see people now walking back and forth looking for seats and asking if a a certain chair/spot on the table is vacant. I'm happy I finally got a computer booth seat. Isolation~
A lot of people say it's hard to study here because of the noise level. It's not VERY LOUD... but... it's like a noisy library. Loud but not loud enough for one to comprehend what someone is saying, juuuuust right :D yay!
__ ++ edit before posting::: wow.. it's 12... sooo... the library gives free food Ahahaha~ ^-^

Oh yeah, speaking of studying here... (which i have no idea how this relates to what i'm about to say.... but.. here goes :D) I ABSOLUTELY HATE BEING ON CAMPUS DURING THE WEEKENDS!! well, i hate being in revelle during the weekends... it's sooooo .... dead. it's like... there's nothing to do but.. study study study. parties? none at all. as always, you'd have to travel to SDSU for them. Anyways, another reason on why I absolutely dislike being in Revelle during the weekends is that... THERE'S NO FOOD!! (I emphasize Revelle College because... i think it's only Revelle College... I heard the other colleges in UCSD have a great variety of food... but.. i'm too lazy to walk there =x ) THERE'S NO FOOOD!!!! when i walked in Plaza Cafe (Revelle's Dining) at 6:30pm for food today... THERE WAS NOTHING!! no sushi or sandwiches in the fridge, no grill, no wraps at the deli, all the mains in the rottisserie were GONE, and the pasta stand STILL HAD BREAKFAST BAGELS ON IT! say what?! yeah. whatt?! so what WAS there to consume there?? Icecream, milk, beverages, coffee, hot cocoa, pizza, and instantly made sandwiches (cold). In other words... if i wanted to eat something warm.. it'd be pizza. i was not in the mood for pizza....
the amount of food choice in Plaza just pisses me off... I mean.. it's not the first time, it's like this EVERY WEEKEND! (especially on Sundays!) I ended up just eating Easy Mac, Breakfast Sausage Muffins, and a fruit cup for dinner. pretty sad.
BE HAPPY MANUEL. HAPPY YOU GET TO COOK FOR YOURSELF! :D Invite me overrr someday, yeah? I know one of ur roommies toooo!! (: Ahahaa~ (:

Holiday spirit? I sure feel it but there's none in our suite. My suite is somewhat anti social... or maybe it's just the rooms on my side (because at night even at 4am... i hear people laughing and talking and omging.)

There are so many Koreans here. I always hear Korean out my window. Oh and my roommate speaks Korean sometimes. She just blurts it out. AHaha. By the way, she's awesome (: We do the silliest things... a~ womanizer...armflingy exercise...damn flies...magic stick... oh becareful at night... you dont know what i might do tonight... (dont get the wrong idea please O_O) Ahahahaa~~ I bet i cant get a better roommate (: Too bad she's in Muir... xD (Muir ~ another college in UCSD)

i think i have the most horrible blogging style. it's so unorganized and unpunctuated... or i should say... mispunctuated. oh dang. i cant wait tim humanities gets me writing 'normally' sigh. i dont want to write. i dont want humanities. what does writing and humanities have to do with science?! Sigh.

Sometimes, i wish i had drama in my life. It sucks being so.... dramaless.

Now i ran out of things to say... Time to look at other's who blogged :D
Omgsh, Angela, I agree with the lack of choices of food in the dining hall... every dining hall serves practically the same thing everyday. Thus... if one wants a new variety.... *looooong walk~~* garrrghoifdalx. lol I think the school wants us to be malnutritioned by consuming approximately the same things daily!

Hmmm.. Cute guys? None at SD... Just friendly ones, ones that give you the "nopes. not hot/omg so hot" look, ones who have ADD(?), stalkerish ones, annoying ones, the creepy ones, funny ones (i guess these can be considered the cute ones... o_O), gamer ones, and the party ones. AND AHAHA so many categories... and still none hot/cute/pretty/handsome.. i guess it's true that people at UCSD are 'ugly' *shrug*

Oh yeah... speaking of gamer guys... DAYUMMMMMM i've never seen ANYONE.. in the entire world... SOOO sucked into something... that they have no idea their wallets are stolen! Shhhhhhhzzt. i mean... seriously! So this is how it goes...

*talk talk talk. laughlaughlaugh*
guy: oh lets play a game of *nameofvideogame/mmorpg*!!
other guys: okay! *runs back to get their laptop/computer*
guys: *opens the game*

and they sit like that for hours. only thing moving... are fingers and rarely, the eyes to look to the other corner of the screen. WTF? WTF?

okay.. continue...
Other people: *taps their shoulders* hey, do you have food i can have?
guys: *taps keys*
other people: hello?
guys: *eyes move to the other corner of the screen;; taps keys*
other people: *jacks a wallet, jacks their food, jacks their .. you name it.*
guys: *taps keys*
*hours pass by
*games end
guys: HOLY SHZZT?! where's my _______?!

i have nothing to say to that... but "WOW."

There's also a bug problem here, which reminds me i need to get mothballs. I would not want to find myself in Justine's place... moths eating holes in her shirts. Oh yeah, walking up my building one day, i saw a mouse in the cart where you put your 'finished' dishes. (for those who bring their food back to their dorms to eat so they'll have a place to put it and cockroaches wont be living on your desk and biting holes through your homework) I didn't notice it until i walked past that cart and was going to go up the stairs when a small thing dashed next to me. I found myself chasing after the rodent but it was too fast and ran under the staircase. It was pretty cute. Reminded me of an asian dwarf hamster with a extraordinary long tail. Anyways... back to bugs. THERE ARE SO MANY FLIES ALL OVER THE PLACE! DANG. i swear.. if i see another one, i'm just going to get my lint roller and smack it. I cant believe i've been putting them in ziploc bags and releasing them the next day -.-; bad idea? they've been coming back.. and each time smarter (or i'm just getting slower). Must they really learn the hard way? It's really annoying. sigh. I should continue to use Frebreez... it keeps them out of the room. Then it comes to .. Darn you Polly! (Polly: DONT USE FREBREEEZZZZ! IT'S BAD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT!)
Hmm... well.. for now.. i'll be using it all over and in the suite until these darn flies stay away from me :D

oh yeah.. speaking of all this ... not so pleasant things... ODOR! my fridge had the fridge odor! I NEED HELP GETTING RID OF IT! currently trying the teabag... going to try the lemon next. and baking soda/powder after that. what else? (:

'Tis the season to be studying falalalala

Hey everybody,

So, I see Carin's answered questions... but I don't see any questions haha. Oh well, I'll just talk about anything then.

I wish I didn't have to suffer through finals to reach winter break. I want to just sleep through finals and pass them in my dreams, and complete my 20 page+ essay in my sleep too. Wouldn't that be awesome? Yes it would.

So what's happened lately... well, I'm glad we're getting the Secret Santa thing organized =) I'm pretty excited for it, especially since I actually made a legit wishlist this year that has things I really want on it haha. If I don't get any of them... eh, at least I can get it myself eventually.

Speaking of Christmas, my dorm building (Stern Hall), is well... stern on their rules. No hanging stringed lights, no decorations on the outside of doors, no candles... basically, no Christmas spirit in the dorm building! =( How lame, right? Well they can't keep the Christmas spirit out of Angela, no way! I've found ways to work around the rules lol ;] I made a big paper Christmas tree and taped it on the inside of the door so no meanie sees it and tattles on our room. And then I'm making decorations for it; it looks cute to me =) I can show pictures when we get together haha. Actually, the original reason for making it was because I wanted to get a picture with me and my roommates in front of a big Christmas tree like the ones in Downtown so I planned a day for us to go there, but then one of my roommates cancelled... and there isn't much time left to go, especially with finals just a week away sooo I'm bringing the tree to us =D
Oh, I've also made a Christmas playlist on imeem that has like 60 Christmas songs I put together and I play it like all the time in the room, even when I'm out, to bring Christmas jolliness in our room =P Haha, I've gotta put a rest on it sometimes though, I think it might bug my roommates because it surely bugs me... that's when Katy Perry, Britney Spears, and Natasha Bedingfield take over until we recover from the Christmas spirit overload... then back on!

When I have time, I still work out, but lately I haven't been running as much with all the work I have now. But I've discovered a bunch of new places to do pullups =) You know those bars in closets where you hang your hangers on? Yup, that's Pullup station #1. The con about it is I can't do a full pullup without banging my head on the closet ceiling first. Pullup station #2 is the bar that holds up shower curtains in the girls' bathroom. It is a lot sturdier than I thought. Negative about that: I can only do it when nobody's in the restroom and it is square shaped so it's a big sacrifice for my hands... But my favorite place to do pullups here I guess would be the pullup bar at the track. Every place has bad things about it and for this one they are the fact that people can see me doing my pullups, it is far away from the dorm room, and my hands slip off fairly easily. Anyways, I think that's enough about pullups, I'm sure no one cares haha. If I weren't me, I wouldn't care either.

Onto social college matters... any cute guys? Eh... none that I am interested in, but if white guys are your thing, there are plenty here, take your pick. Oh, a lot of Korean and Chinese guys too. Fair amount of Indian. I know a few African-Americans if anyone wants to meet them.
I feel like I'm getting along better with my roommates, not that I wasn't before, but like, we can talk about personal things now which is pretty cool. Especially when we go on rants about why we hate boys -.- No we don't hate men, we hate boys, that is, people of the male sex that have not yet matured into the age that they are. And it's funny how in Berkeley, a place that supposedly has so many intelligent people, boys are still prevalent. I'm also kind of sad that classes are ending because I've met so many people I probably won't see anymore.... which is why I'm thankful for Facebook haha. Well, there's always my architecture classes, I'm sure basically everyone will be the same there; I'll probably have those classes with the same people for all my four years here. I wonder if I can get sick of them?

Oh, did I mention I highly dislike campus food? It's not that the food is bad... well, there are some things that you should never try... but it's very, repetitive? The dining common food is decent, but only if you go on the right days. Some days they have leftovers of the stuff people didn't eat the night before which I don't find very reasonable because if we didn't finish it off the night before, what makes them think we'd want it the next day, after it has been sitting out and reheated? Pizza is ALWAYS on the menu, same with pasta and rice and al dente broccoli. I think my expectations for college food were really low when I first came so I was content with the food... maybe I've just become a picky eater now >.<>.<

Speaking of mirrors and vanity, I want to reply to Carin's post about those freaky 6-year-olds. Those are really really scary looking >.< It's like... the makeup makes them look old but you can still totally tell they're adolescents, probably from the shape of their face or something. It's so creepy!! But I don't know if the makeup will ruin their face for the future. If they're used to wearing that much makeup now, I'm sure they won't mind wearing more to cover up any pre-mature wrinkles and nasties they get later on. Or for rich folks like them that can afford dolling up their kids like that, laser surgery and face lifts are never out of the question for them. It'd be interesting if something went wrong and they ended up looking like Michael Jackson though. =) I guess if the parents think their kids are more beautiful covered in makeup, it's their choice how they raise their children. Hopefully their kids don't look like that at school too... It would be a sad day to see a first grader avoiding a game of kickball or tag because she didn't want to smudge her mascara.

Well I'm tired. I think I'll write a better entry some other time. Need to study... and sleep. =)

Counting Days...

It seems that today is Blog Day! Hah. Let's get this thing going...

I would have never thought so many things could happen in these past four months. There are the occasional, normal ups and downs, but there were so many things that happened that I will not soon forget. For me (and most likely for all), it was a season of new experiences. I've harmonized new friendships with my teammates (it helped that we ran with each other practically every single day except Sunday, and bonded through outings). I will always keep them in mind when I run, and wait for them to come to San Diego. I have also been much more involved at work, and I've been given much more responsibility. It's nice, and we've also have had a couple of guys night out, which I'd say, have been incredible nights of bonding, haha. Bond? James Bond. Uhh... anyway... I'm really glad we all got together Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. I missed everyone that was there. It was a nice get together, especially since there were over 25 people in total! Good job getting everyone together, Angela! Hah, it was fun.

Classes have been ridiculously easy... I'm not doing a good job of being modest, but nor am I exaggerating, unfortunately. It's partly my fault for not choosing the traditional "hard" classes, I guess. Due to the low intensity of these classes, I put off the occasionally assigned homework until either the day before, or the day of (a horrible habit that I hope is not developed, but rather only exercised). But, at least I'm having fun in all my classes, especially my Psyc 40 class (childhood and adolescent psychology). For our term paper/project, we had to find a child going through cognitive change... well, w/e let's just say, we had to find a child between the ages 7-11, and then do experiments with them, or gauge their development, then after writing the what-should-have-been-an-extensive-paper, we had to write a letter to the parents of the child, basically helping them raise their child. That was so tricky, because you don't want to put what you want to say in such a way that would enrage the parent and completely disregard your suggestions. But, I was able to finish it in enough hours before I had to turn it in that I was able to sleep a couple of hours. The point is, it was fun =)

I can't wait for our gathering! My last days here in Daly City will be great, hanging out with all circles of friends, and getting ready to leave and start living on my own (with roommates). Can't wait!

blah blah blah

Wow, i haven't posted on this for a while. Ok, soooooo hows college been? who cares! cuz its almost over!! =) i hope your all passing your classes with a C- and up. Umm, i guess i'll just update whats been going on in my life so far. For those of you who don't know, i finally got my license... but can't drive cuz i have no insurance. Classes are good, just have two weeks of school left... have to get through finals!!! Its boring without all of you, but i've found people to entertain me until you losers get back. well, i can't really think of anything to say at the moment... anyways, hopefully one of you will write something interesting for me to read teh next time i check this... haha

-Andrew

ps. oh oh! did we decide on a date and place for winter break? lol

pps. i know my post is boring/bland, but i tried =)

It's DECEMBER!!

That means.. a new set of questions! :D
1. sorry for the long ass list of things i dont want on facebook, though it is true that i dont really need any of those but books and hooks. xD

2. FINALS ARE COMING UP!! I wish you guys and gals all good luck on your finals (: Be excited for them to be over so we get to see each other! Yee!

3. We should totally take a college shirt/sweater group pic (; it'll be awesome (right?) & "just for this site" (though i'd probably facebook it xD xD)

4. I FIND IT ABSOLUTELY GROTESQUE THAT LITTLE GIRLS (meaning.. age 6-middle school) ARE WEARING MAKEUP AND DEMANDING LV/COACH/UGGS/NORTHFACE.

So now, i will rant about it.

what's with kids these dayyss?! when we were in elementary school, didnt we only wear like... sweat pants and dorky asian stuff? Or for my caucasian friends, sweaters and sweatpants/dorky jeans? Our socks will showed, accessory-less, just... dressed by our moms?
I was reading on a forum.. and found these pictures... the instant i saw them... i was like.. OMGOMGOMG wtheck?!

I swear, they arent human. they're dolls. but NOOO they're 6 year olds entering pageantssss! i thought little kid pagents were about cuteness and talent... NOT caking them with make upp.. AHHHH. duddde, i wonder what their parents were thinking... spoiled brats. (cough... 500$ face. wow.. wonder how fast their faces are going to wear out with all that makeup at such a young age. THEY'RE STILL DEVEOLPING FOR GOODNESS SAKKKES)
i've also heard stories of little girls wanting expensive stuff that are not for their age (LV/UGGS/NORTHFACE). i guess they just dont understand that we're in a ressession... and the ecomony is going bad. it sucks to see little girls wearing slutty clothes too, like... super duper low jeans. i swear, walking in the mall the other day, that thing sticking out of their jeans was an underwear. it looked like she was wearing a tube top that was really short. yuck. even i dont wear those alone.
gahhh. why would they want to look/act sooo much older? i mean... yes i understand the tendency of people wanting to grow older... even i do! but.. not... THAT MUCH OLDER! maybe 1-2 years older? these kids are trying to be 10+ years older! kadang.
gajieuafjdsavcxzgayrfedafdsz. what's with this new generation?
I blame Limited Too! & the media.
Little kids, if you're reading this... please understand.. that clothes like that... is just trashy, meaning... no you are not pretty. you are just a slut at a young age and that's bad. Keep in mind.. you are PLAYING with barbie dolls.... you are not trying to be them. Dolls arent real. Dont set your standards to the doll. & most of all, be ABOVE THE INFLUENCE. tyvm.
AHGIERJDSLFDLKMFCXKJFIEJFSDSX. oh well, i'm glad i'm not one of them (: & on second thought, go ahead, put make up on your puny underdeveloped faces so you can maximize your poors and make your skin all rough. (: it'll just make you guys look uglier and make our generation look oh so prettier. (: Go ahead. screw the world's standard of beauty up (: yay!

rantingover.
