A New Dawn

I begin typing this and it's 11am (here in San Diego — there's a slight time difference it seems... I wake up with much ease in contrast to the lazy attitude of waking up in Daly City, which I attribute to time), and I'm sitting near the "dining room" table typing on my laptop. To sum it all up in a phrase, "I wish I were a poet, for a poet would be able to say all which I can only express with a single 'amazing'".

I had Calculus today in the morning (8am, again!), after which I went to a lounge nearby with this one girl I have been getting to know better and better as the "Monday Wednesday Friday"'s pass by. I came home after an hour or so of being there. "Home"... it's a word I have been using for the past 18.66 years of my life, yet using it for this past week or so has had the weirdest effect. I have to think about calling my apartment at one of the better apartment complexes "home". I sometimes pause to remind myself that this hotel-look-a-like is "home". Nevertheless, I love it. My room has been coming along (more or less) — mainly because the walk-in closet is completely set up and there is a bed in my room. The living room, on the other hand, is bare, except for my tv (which I cautiously brought with the rest of my luggage). We finally had internet installed last thursday, after a week of being deprived of any form of communication with the outside world (except for my iPhone). My roommates (two freshmen and a third year) are pretty nice. The only thing I can say is that I seem horribly outgoing in comparison to the freshmen roommates. Actually, that's not extreme enough. The third year is practically near rarely here, and I'm the only one that seems to want to do the same. The other two practically live here (ha) with one always on his computer and the other glued to the tv. That will change soon, though, for I plan on taking each of them out and getting them active. Slowly I'm becoming quick friends with the roommate from LA (I actually hit it off with the roommate from SF real quick, on the first night we spent in San Diego). Last thursday we stayed up until 4am talking, and it was completely worth it (who cares that I had Calc at 8am in 3.99 hours), and last night we stayed up until 2am (again, worth it, even if I did have Calc today, again, at 8am). I'm glad I get along with my roommates so well, but I wish the two freshmen roommates would get along better with each other, too. Oh well, we'll get there.

If it weren't for my iPhone, it's gps, and google maps, I don't think I would be where I am today. I've depended on it to find where the nearest vons (Safeway) is (down one block from where I live), target, walmart, etc. Even at campus, I depended on it for the first few days. I used it to access my class schedule, see what rooms they were in and at what times. I also used it to view the map of the campus as I walked around, which is smaller than what I had anticipated.

It's now 1:29pm, and I have to get ready to go to chemistry (my favorite subject, but not so favorite class as of right now). I was actually planning on working on an essay due tomorrow, but I imagine I must have lost track of time... or something like that. Well, I hope to be back here soon, and read new posts. HAPPY NEW YEAR, by the way!!!

MC =)
