Dawn Over And Over Again

Time Flies... Every morning I wake up, it's already been a day since the last, a week since last week's, and a month since last month's. I just have to open my eyes in the morning and ta-daa: Tomorrow becomes Today, and Today becomes a mere memory — nothing to enjoy but passing images. It has been more than a month since the last post on this postless-for-2009 blog, and it really is incredible how quick time flies (btw, wonderful insects, ey?). I've gotten to know my roommates very well, one more so than the others. We got along real quick; it seems that we are of the same pod of peas. Sure there are differences among us, but they tend to be few and rare. But we are both amazed at how quickly our friendship developed, and how real, honest and open we are with each other. We've only been living together for a month, and we've already become very good friends. We understand each other's emotions, we pull all-nighter's watching movies like Memento, we go out to have dinner together. In some ways, I could now understand what some people say when they introduce their good friend ("This is John, we met in college," or "This is Doe, we roomed together in college"). It's real easy to become friends, and it just takes a bit of time, effort and interest to maintain that status.

Anger is Brief Madness...
[Edit: My First Rant! Awesome!] On the other hand, I could now see why people could get very irritated with their roommates over small situations. Over the course of the month, one of our roommates decided to have his bedroom in his share of the bedroom and in the living room as well. There were clothes, coins, cereal boxes, papers and basic crap all over the southern end of the living room. Don't let that sloppiness seem the worst, though. He would cook with pots and pans that I purchased and we shared. And that's it. He would use the pot for his own serving of pasta sauce, serve himself, eat, and go to the living room to spend mindless hours on his laptop. Allow me to mention that the pot is still on the stove and the plates have remained on the kitchen table. Night falls. The sun rises. The sun sets. The sun rises and he wants to use the pot again. Thank goodness he has a roommate that didn't like the sight of having a pot sitting overnight with pasta sauce in it. Thank goodness he has a roommate that thinks that is unsanitary and WANTS to wash it. Thank goodness he has a roommate that needs to use the pot to make his own food and NEEDS to wash it. Thank goodness he has a clean pot now which he can use to do the whole charade all over again. Yea, that's not going to sit well with me. It's going down. This happened over the course of a week, and I planned to speak with him about the living room's mess and the mess in the kitchen asap, but, of course, he was never available (either he wasn't home, or he was on his laptop, numbing away his eyes). This side-story: I usually wake up at 5 or 6am here, so I set my alarm on my phone for that time. The first few times that I began to wake up so early, I was not able to hear my alarm, and completely overslept. I'm sure that annoyed him. One fateful friday I had a calc quiz at 8am. Sure enough, I overslept. Sure enough, having the alarm sound indefinitely annoyed him. When I came home from my quiz (I actually got an A) he asked me "Could you wake up when your alarm sounds, please?". Given that this was before I began to get irritated by his messy behavior, I said, "Yea, I'll definitely try," biting back boiling rage, "but how about we compromise. If you are annoyed by my alarm ringing and I haven't turned it off, which could be because I'm really tired and can't hear it, how about you wake me up, and I'll turn off my alarm. This way, we both get our wants satisfied". He agreed. Now I begin to get irritated about his mess. Then, the next thursday, I woke up to my alarm ringing, and, as I reached over to turn it off, he was leaning over me. He whispered "Oh, I was going to wake you up" (doesn't matter that my alarm just began to sound). Now, I usually lay in bed for about 5-10 minutes just thinking about the day, or my dream. I also usually turn off my alarm, rather than setting it to snooze. All of a sudden, my alarm goes off again, and I am hastily trying to find where I put my phone, so that I could turn it off. I finally find it, and when I do turn it off, he says "Do you mind turning off your alarm when you wake up? It get's annoying". I blew up. I was raged. I went off on him (speaking very eloquently, by the way, no matter how pissed I was). I told him off about the living room, about the kitchen, about me and the others having to wash dishes that have sat overnight because we need to use them, and all of his messy behavior that was not there before. He changed that asap. We no longer have that problem.

The Best Seasoning... Sure I've been cooking steak, spaghetti w/ and w/out meatballs, and rigatoni, but food is expensive! That's all I want to spend money on. No more cookies for me. No more chocolates. No more cakes. Just regular food and drinks (but oh, cake does sound good right now). Fortunately, my mother seemed to have sensed that, and sent me two chocolate cakes and one carrot cake via usps. As soon as I opened my package and realized what it was, I took them to my room and hid them beneath my bed. Hell no am I sharing this! Once I was home alone, I got a plastic fork and ate the hell out of it. Hunger definitely is the best seasoning. Even though that was store bought cake mix, it sure felt like and tasted like the best damn cake I've ever had. Yum.

While I Breathe, I Hope... and I hope that we have new posts by next month!
